Is 80 hrs average, or where your own cut off is?

And what do you mean swapped out?

80 is more of a goal than anything. Usually siting at round 70 or so.
Swapping out is when my 14 hours is up and I cant drive my truck back to the yard, I will call dispatch and they will send someone out in a van to take my truck while i drive the van back. Sometimes it can take a long time for them to get out to me

Some yards do. The Monohans/Pecos yard does. The Midland yard is getting them within a couple weeks.

If a Nabors Rig is on the reservation then they don't necessarily have to follow DOT. They have to follow MHA which in MHA there is no law so I know of a few Water haulers out there that make $25 an hr and like 100 hours with time and half. During the summer time those guys kill it. $15.50 is poverty wage, that sound like something Halliburton would pay or Sanjel for that matter. If you dig hard enough and keep going to their door you can get a good job better than $15.50 an hr. I wouldn't roll outta bed with a fat woman for $15.50 an hr.

    Shadow Captain Thanks this.

I thought you needed 1 1/2 years exp to apply with nabors. Nabors has always paid their drivers low and required experience. As a matter of fact, nabors' financials have always been in the ground due to mismanagement. It may be a reason why they pay lower than average.

I just interviewed with Nabors in the last week and there pay was 18.00 an hour with a dollar an hour night diff and a dollar an hour safety bonus. And they did make sure I had the min 1.6 years of driving experience and I see a lot of peeps that wouldn't wake up for 15.50 an hour but as I have zero oil field experience and with ot and stuff you will make out just fine and it seems like every truck in the parking lot was a 10 or newer so there making money,

They don't require experience in many Permian Basin yards. $15.50 per hour is not unrealistic for a newbie.

They can do better! I started driving here in November fresh out of CDL school. I'm in a Rig that has 4k miles on it....got it with right at 2k. I'm not up to speed yet with finding the leases very fast so I'm only making about $200-300 each day. Today I made $600 though.

I usually do 12 hours or less, but today I was able to drive 14hrs. I get commission/mileage. Mileage is from the odometer BTW and it's .50/mile. There's a whole list of different pay schedules for waiting, meetings, breakdowns and rejected loads plus a ton of other specific things.

I'm not sure how much "better" you're doing. $200-$300 per day is about what you make at $15.50 per hour on a 4/1 schedule. And you get paid the same for every job step, that's the beauty of hourly pay.

There are definitely other opportunities that can be found with patience and a little serendipity. When you get to the point that you can make $500-$600 per day EVERY day, then I'll tip my hat to you. It all depends on what you're looking for. I've worked for two of the largest oil service companies out here and I appreciate their safety programs and adherence to DOT regs. I realize other drivers are looking for as many hours as possible regardless of legality, and those jobs are here to.

Out of curiosity, what type of work are you doing? Does your company offer vacation and paid holidays? How about affordable insurance and 401K?
