Hey, guys. I'm an OTR driver 2 years in with reefers. Got my double-triples and tanker endorsements, I'll get my Hazmat soon enough, and I am ready to get into the Oil business. I don't have anything holding me down so I can move anywhere. Where's the money at with driving for Oil companies? ND? TX?

In the pockets of those who mine the pockets of oil field workers. Local prices increase to consume higher wages, it's the American Way. Always has been, always will be.

The money left in your pocket is about the same between ND and TX. Comes down to where do you want to work. You might also want to check the edges of those areas, for oil field jobs that pay just a little less, but the cost of living is also less. Eastern Wyoming and Eastern Colorado.

I have spoken to a few people seen a few threads and from what I have concluded is that you need to know someone in the fields or else you will get ripped off especially when it comes to lease purchase! Some company is cleaning drivers pockets left and right down on Texas so watch ya back.
And if you have your own rig you better watch ya back big time!!!
Good luck with your search. I too would like to do the same but with a dully but I will hold off till I find more info and or the right people to hook up with.

I just got out of the patch as a frac hand with calfrac well services. i was based out of central pa, but worked everywhere but tx. piss on north dakota lol, theres not enough money in the bakken to keep me working there lol, i made the same or better working in pa, and williston is a ####### disaster. If you want in, either do drilling or frac to get your start, as thats where the money is. extreamly hard work at times, and theres always the danger associated, but its fun, and financially you wont find that type of money anywhere else. hit me up if you have any questions

If you have the opportunity to stay in the truck is the best bet, it will let you pocket the most of your income.

Charm_City_Trucker, I have the same question. Have read MANY MANY treads on here about oil field (driving) jobs and haven't figured out much except pay in Texas really isn't much better than an OTR driver, living expenses in NODAK are expensive and limited and how bad the conditions are, never read much about Pennsylvania, CO, WY and W VA??? Not sure this is the right place to look. Have learned from experience, people that are happy with their jobs don't need to be on an online trucking site and people that are here have worked in places (for certain "" COMPANIES "" or places) that they hated. Got fired from or quit for some crazy reason. After all that it all comes to, people that have really good jobs (they are treated good, pay is good) they aint on here and "" "" if they are they aren't gonna tell ya and most likely aren't doing any hiring anyways (good companies don't need to hire all the time).
If you find out more than I have been able too please let me know.
