You say you didn't attend a CDL school, but your post seems like you're attending one now except with an oil company sponsored school.

So can you mention the company name? Sounds like Nabors to me as well.

Anyway, good luck and keep us updated.

I don't know how that would be possible. Unless the oilfield is way different than up in canada. Oilfield drives with weights at full capacity all day everyday in conditions that make otr guys run home crying to their mom. I have literally seen dozens of otr guys work a day then say they can't handle the conditions.

There is nothing in my limited otr experience that can even come close to comparing to what I do every single day.

As for that wage...... Jesus!!!!! Drivers up here are pulling $35/hr +

Not that TX and Canada are comparable but-- are drivers with no driving and no oilfield experience pulling 35+ an hour straight time? If so please tell me how to get hired.

I'd prefer not to say the name of company on a public forum.

I pay my drivers 30% of the gross, the truck makes $106/hr. 15 hour days, 20 days a month. Includes transportation, a camp to stay in with meals included, a pickup so if the truck has issues they can go home and a company cell phone. We're in the bush in logging country.

Closer to oil cities they pay around $26/hr with overtime after 8 hours. 15 hour days as well.

The company I haul for hires rookies all the time and pays accordingly and usually supplies accommodation.

I personally don't hire rookies because I remember what I did (or didn't know how to do) to the trucks I first drove.

Do they hire rookie Americans though?
