I've read a lot of advice here regarding the importance of getting the best possible training from your first employer after CDL school. There seems to be a consensus that many of the most critical skills needed to keep oneself and others alive on the road must be learned during that phase of one's career.

As I evaluate entering the trucking industry with an eye towards oil field work, I wonder, Does the training given in that unique environment translate to skills needed for OTR driving?

I want your job! I back up 10-12 times a day. Makes bumping a dock look like nothing, that's for sure. Aren't you up here in the Bakken?
