    Well,
I passed my DOT physical and drug screen, passed my interviews and prescreens, and finally I got hired on w/ a good cementing/acidizing company. I am getting ready to depart on the 19th of this month for a 21 day work schedule and off 7 days (21/7). The company HR lady told me to pack for 3 weeks since they will be housing me.

My QUESTION IS...What should I bring (im a noob)? Besides the obvious, underwear, pants, SOCKS, shirts, boots, cigarettes/chew. Is there anything else any oilfield guys bring with them on their hitches? Any advice would be nice....I will be packing the obvious normal living things but maybe some things I might miss. Should I buy my own gloves and bring? the company will give me a voucher for new boots and provide ALL PPE which im guessing is the coveralls gloves hat and all that.....anyways any advice would be appreciated thx..

Usually companies provide gloves. Haven't heard of one that doesn't. Bring a laptop or ipad if you have one of course. One or two nice sets of cloths if you get a chance to go have a beer. Don't forget all the personal hygiene stuff you may or may not ever use.

I have only worked as a crude hauler...but I would be surprised if you are allowed to smoke on the job.. at camp...probably.

Something to pass the time. You will have long days in the field. Cooler for lunch/food on location also would be nice to have usually. Make sure you get good boots, you'll be in them most places for 14-16 hours a day or more depending on how/if they do rotations. As already stated, don't buy gloves, or glasses. You'll go through both and won't usually need to provide them. Another thing that some people think is crazy, but I used to carry one of the small baby wipes packages in my lunch box. they may give you hell if seen, but the first time the crapper is out of paper slips you'll be so happy to have them in you lunch box. Look into Vapor e-cigs also. Company policy varies, but some allow it more than smokes.

Lots of good info I forgot so far. Cigs are a no go on site but many people smoke and they will have a designated area which is usually at the entrance to the pad.
Baby wipes are nice to have especially when it is really hot.

Depends on who you are going to work for but most give out rig gloves that are pricey and you will get one pair of those a month or so. Then there are the cheapo cotton rig gloves that are basically throw away.

Your location should be dry most of the time but the Muck Boots are the way to go when its not dry.

good luck and keep us posted on how things are going.
