Hi all,
If I want to visit some oilfield employers, do I need to do it during the week, or are the people I need to talk to ever there on weekends? I know there's probably no ONE answer, but I'd be happy to hear what you all have to say. You might say, "Why not just call them," but I'm so early in the game I haven't even identified companies yet. Just wondering if I should schedule some weekdays off in the coming months.
Thanks.

I don't get it... He's been here only 3 months asking questions and you jump him? I was asking for #### near two years as I planned my exit from the Army in order to be properly prepared (and landed a job before leaving home).
There is no one answer to this question, unfortunately. Sometimes you gotta risk it to get the biscuit. -
Likewise. I asked about eight months of dumb questions myself.
My limited experience is that there are people in the office on the weekends. This is, after all, a 24/7/365 business. If you knock on the door, they'll probably let you come in and fill out an app.
At worst they'll take your name and number and tell you to come back Monday. But, there are management types around on the weekends. You just have to get lucky and run into the right one. -
Weekend=all main personnel off like hiring manager, sups, coordinators...best bet weekdays between 9-11am....gluck getting past receptionist...

Thanks guys, for the info and support.

The people that hire may not be at a company, but generally their IS someone. At least at a lot of the places I have driven past. Yard personnel, mechanics, receptionist, drivers that are working the weekend... really IF their is someone that is actually working their, stop in an talk to them, fill out an app if the receptionist will give you one... ####-chat with her.
Plus the weekend is a great time to catch some workers in their various RV park's or here and their. ( If you have an RV, prefect time to get some numbers at a park if their are spaces and to find a park, get to know the area.) While you are trying to get to the next company to fill out another app is not the best time in the world to look for a place to stay. You might see what could have been the perfect place, but company ABC closes in 1/2 an hr and you need to get their...are ya gonna remember where it was?d o g and Leviathan Tube Thank this.
