I need a job in oilfields. My fiance is pregnant and we are looking for a home base. Currently I am OTR with 4 months experience and she is my ride along. I am 22. I have my hazmat and tankers. She is early in the pregnancy, but need somewhere that will accept me with less than 1 year experience. We have family in DFW she can stay with until I get a job there and while I am still OTR. But I don't want to miss being by her side much during this pregnancy since her last one was a stillborn at 8 1/2 months. Anyone able to help please. We are willing to relocate anywhere if money is good and we can get easy housing.

There are going to be very few oilfield jobs that allow you to be with your wife as much as you would like. Oilfield jobs, for the most part, require a strong commitment to the job.
My honest suggestion would be to stay otr, or find a local job until the baby is born. The oilfield will still be there, you'll have your 1 year of experience and if you spend that time researching the industry, you will have a better idea of what you want to do. -

One thing to remember. The oil jobs pay close to the same anywhere you find them. Just because there is a LOT of oil in particular area doesn't mean you'll make a penny more money hauling it. As long as a company in OK or somewhere around Corpus can keep you busy... you'll make the same money as the guy living and working in the hottest part of the boom. In fact, you'll come out with more money because the expenses are not so high in the outskirts of the boom areas. Again, you can swing a top job in any of those areas. A new driver may need to go into the hot areas to find someone that will hire him...you won't have to.TLeaHeart Thanks this. -
If oil jobs paid the same everywhere, then no one would be in freezingm middle-of-nowhere North Dakota or miserable, dusty, crime-ridden Midland/Odessa.
The truth of the matter is that pay varies wildly in different areas for different jobs, even in just different parts of Texas... Again, with just a few exceptions, you aren't gonna make as much money in Corpus Christi or San Antonio as you are in parts of West Texas because the companies have a bigger employee pool to draw from, cost of living is generally lower, and these are much more attractive destinations for living than many other oilfield play areas.
DEFINITELY take into account the pay differences in different areas OP, because they can be substantial. -
Please show me a pay difference..as in a company, any company, that pays x amount in Midland but a lesser amount elsewhere. There may be more oil to haul...but that just means they need more trucks and drivers. The individual driver won't make any more per barrel or by the hour. Again...IF he can stay busy outside of the boom area, he can make the same money. Just my opinion. The OP is a big boy. He can figure it out when he starts talking to the hiring managers. -
I am currently 350 miles outside of Midland/Odessa. I know what I'm making and I have a decent idea of what I would be making down there. It's the same.
The company I am with sent 5 trucks/drivers to Odessa a couple weeks ago. They asked me if I wanted to go..I passed on it. 3 of those drivers have already came back up.... I'm guessing they were just making too much money? -
I'm going to test this theory today. I figured I throw a resume at a water hauler job local to me in Ohio. Sent the resume in at 4:30am and got a voicemail at 6:30 am. I'll let you guys know the pay later so we can compare because the truth here is really important.

Well... one of my suggestions was going to be that you might want to take a look around home. Water or sand up there probably.
You are in a completely different geographic area... but.. if they have enough work to keep you busy, I'm betting it's not worth moving to TX.
