I'm earning in the mid $80's now, but I have to work 14 hour days to do it. Do you know how long their days tend to be? I know many crude haulers put in 10-12 hour days and that's what I'm hoping to find.

I think it depends on how many loads they want to haul and or have time for. I know people that only want to haul four a shift and go home, that's probably a ten hour day. Yet I know other that run six or seven without a breaking partner and hit their maximum 14. I get paid by the hour and do not come to work for less than 12 hours unless I am working extra.

    Ben Gunn Thanks this.

Yeah, I don't typically work less than 12 hours a day either. It looks like they require 2 years total experience though, huh? I suppose I'll stick with hauling sand until my 2 years is up.

You do what you need to do. Be sure to have your job history straight too, they look down upon too many jobs in so many years. Also when/if they do call, you better come runnin', if you turn them down you'll NEVER be eligible for rehire again!

Really, come runnin' huh? Well, my job history isn't like a beauty pageant, more like a rough western. If you weren't aware let me inform you the whole trucking industry is short on truck drivers, so we can pick and choose where we want to go; albeit to some degree.

What rock have you been living under? There is NO shortage of drivers, in fact companies are being extremely picky about who they do hire today. Like plains, they want 2 years good experience, and a clean record... you don't have that, they will not call... and when they do call, you better accept the interview, or they do move on to the next qualified driver.

    bbq247365 and cmbks21 Thank this.

Yes I am aware of the industry shortage as a whole, but you speak like many who come from the OTR world do. Oil field truckin' /dirt road truckin' is a way different ball game, don't care if you have 30 years OTR, you've got 0 in the oil patch.

PAAPL is a top wage paying company and are selective about who they hire as well, even before
the down turn they were that way.
I think they are a good company with great benefits too, however they have gone to a 4-2 schedule on both shifts and every once in a while I hear they have gotten a little slow.

Still wouldn't not consider working there though, good luck to you if you have an opportunity to get hired on.

I am not speaking from the OTR world, but from the oil patch world... Yes some of us have experience in both.
