I have found the safest areas in Mexico are similar to U.S, the small rural towns. The ones I have went their only crime is little drunken bar fights or stealing someone's crop, lol.

The funny thing is this world is all the same. They also associate U.S with being dangerous when they hear one story on news or gossip ,then associate it that way.

However if one is in the wrong place at wrong time man oh man, they are ruthless those cartels. When was in Juarez this poor fella petitioning his wife got into a road rage with the wrong guy, cartel of course. Those animals followed him and gunned him down over hundred shots. He was in early 20's from Colorado.

Just read the article and the replies...

I lived south of the border for more than five years.
Spent most of the time in C.A., been as far as Costa Rica

    1. The way I see it is Mexicans in Mexico don't work quite the same as Mexicans in the US...culture is much slower down south.
    2. Politicians are more easily paid off which is why the laws change quicker...
    3. Mineral rights, security and creative designing in US vs MX are day and night...
    4. Refer once again to 1-3

You add those up and all you have left in that article for sence of urgency in a Mexican shale oil boom similar to US is the kind a young buck would have with a dead corpse.

I wonder what happens to the ones who have on their land.

Blessing or a curse? Not at all familiar how it works there, curious tho. Mexico has had oil booms in past. Heard Salma Hayek family wealth was from oil

The rich few will get richer and little if anything will trickle down to the masses. Most of the land is owned by the relatively few wealthy. It will help but not like over here, Me thinks.

I have a friend of mine that was offered a security job down there on the oil rigs. Pays $150k/yr. Can you imagine what kind of danger you would be in driving a truck if they have to hire security at the wells. NOT ME LOL

The reason for the security might be a little different up here, with eco-terrorism likely topping the list.

Not like what they would need south of the Rio Grande.
