How much could I expect to save during my first year working in the ND oilfields?

It varies from company to company. Big companies pay 13 to 15 hour like Halliburton frac and nabors vacuum trucks. So it's recommended you go with the smaller ones. I make 21 hour starting at my frac company and when I used to haul water I made 17 to 18hr

I can't emphasize this enough - join a trucking outfit that either gives you free housing or lets you live in the truck. My company has really nice trucks that we get to live in, thats an extra 600-1000+ in my pocket every month.

I'm a pretty frugal person - so far after bills and living expenses I've been putting away almost 5000 every month into my savings account, how much I will save in a year will depend on how much time I take off, looking to keep the total under 2 months. My laptop and 4runner provides me with all the entertainment I need, and I make sure to keep wal-mart groceries stocked in my truck so I don't get wallet gouged by the truck stops [$12 for some heatlamp enchiladas, are you kidding me!]

Just don't be like some of the other truckers here - buying brand new fully optioned pickup trucks, eating every meal at a truck stop, burning through money on days off at the strip club [pay money and you dont even get to bang em.... sounds like a waste to me!] parking at the 4bears casino and gambling it away. Then at the end of the year they're scratching their heads going durr I wonder what happened to all that money.
