Hey guys,
Might have the chance soon to head out there and do some water hauling with tractor trailers. I have five years of experience class B but only a few months with tractor trailers a year or so ago. I drive 8 and 10 speed manuals everyday, and operate straight truck cranes off road now. I have the class A with all my endorsements, I'm just wondering what to expect if I get out there for an interview. Is it a road test and maneuvers generally, or what should I expect to have to do?

Some easy backing moves. It's not like backing around a corner into a dock space with 2-3 in. clearance.
-
Equipment that might pass inspection and dirt roads that 25MPH might be too fast.

Usually a quick 5 mile drive if that. Most water truck drivers dont even back. Most company water trucks are 10 speeds, the new ones here are all automatics. If you pass a pee test, learn the basics quickly, you'll do fine. Just make sure you know how to throw chains, some companies out there require them, if you get stuck and dont have em on, your company pays the tow bill. Dont rush, its never worth it.
Good luck!

Im kind of curious, what would you need to know about throwing chains to haul water?arent we talking about tankers??
