Why do big trucking companies have so many rules? Because they must hold the drivers accountable for every mistake regardless who is at fault. It's either their way or the highway. Sometimes a driver can't handle the job, and comes here to whine....get over it and move on, complaining is not going to change the forces that are in control of this industry. Trucking is a very demanding career. No one is forced to join, think about that!

Sheesh! $100 a week? I won't leave my house for less than $200 a DAY!!! And if I gross less than 1100 a week, I'm disappointed. And I'm home every day and all weekend!
Tell hubby to stick it out, suffer the four months if possible, and move on to greener pastures. -

Thank you for all your kind replies. I will make my husband read this thread. He is very hardworking and does things accurately. He likes driving he just doesn't like to be away all these weeks. This thread was to see what his options were. And there are man good choices out there.

$1.00/mile + fuel surcharge (as of 2/7/15 FSC= 0.25/mile) OTR miles. No FSC when empty.
$0.90/mile + fsc dedicated, ie: Lansing to Laredo (goes thru Ft. Wayne each direction) with guaranteed 3028 miles/week (3028 x $0.90 = $2725) before fuel and truck bills are taken out (about on avg approximately $2000/wk)--$2725 - $2000 = $725 + $727 fsc (@ 0.25/mi) = $1452/wk before taxes (accountant I deal with says put 20% aside for taxes approximately $290-300 )
so roughly after taxes your hubby would be taking home $1150/wk.
My total settlement w/ PAM for 2014 (6/14 - 12/31) was just short of $35,000 before taxes, projected settlement for 2015 is an estimate of $80,000 before taxes.
just food for thought!!Last edited: Feb 8, 2015
Whiteline64 and BallC74 Thank this. -
Ten cents a mile less for dedicated. I guess your truck knows you're on dedicated and goes through less wear and tear. I am skeptical of their lease deal for one reason. I find it hard to believe that a company that pays the company drivers so poorly would have a great lease deal.

DO NOT lease!!!!!!!!
... Finish the contract with pam first!!!!... And then apply for all LTL companies in the area like
ABF, YRC, OD, ESTES, SAIA, UPSF, CONWAY... These companies all start at around $20hrly with OT after 8 or 40 with healthcare, 401k & paid vacations, sick days & such, this is what I advise all family men, I believe it is very important for the sake of the marriage & for the sake of children that all family men are home every day to be the rock of the family,.... Finishing the contract will be hard on both of you but he must pay for his trade first!!!!! Towards the end of the contract he can begin looking at these prime jobs & planning a solid future for his family (you are his home & his family) this is very hard on him as it is on you, marriage is a very special thing to God, not only do you belong to your husband, he also belongs to you, keep encouraging each other about when the day comes when he has paid for his tool of trade and he can finally be home with the love of his life YOU!!!
.... He needs to know you are waiting for him and you belong to him, this will keep him strong, he is going thru hell right now but he is building a future for his family, he probably doesn't tell you how much you mean to him because it makes him feel mushy & stuff 😎👍🏁🏁
.... Just "doin the superflow " wd49 style
...... Bless you both & congratulations
💓 "the rhythm of love"
PS:...he needs to ask pam what he needs to do to make more $ because he is a married man now, hopefully that will ring a bell with themLast edited: Feb 13, 2015
