What kind of mental patient revs the engine to build oil pressure?? THERE IS NO OIL GOING TO THE BEARINGS!!! Reving it will just speed up the bearing distruction.
Hope you dodged one here!!
BillJarhed1964 Thanks this. -
isnt the filter after the oil is run thru the engine?
i think the problem is with all that lucas in system the pickup wasnt pulling in the oil
lots of times when servicing the engine --if you have the fuel system open you have to give the throttle a few shots to keep it going on first start---once inwhile you can get a pig that is very hard to keep running the first while---but in this case i dont thiink they opened up the fuel system -
sounds like the pump sucked the Lucas first clogging every thing ....Cat says put no additive in its oil,,,just my thought

i was there just the other day thursday last week to be exact and wanted them to fix the passenger side wiper they said my whole wiper assembly was finished and busted they didnt have the parts and would only be gettin them in this coming tuesday so i said screw it i'll come home with only 1 wiper i then brought it to my dealer here in quebec and found out it was only a plastic nut on the shaft assemble that was broken and the rod popped off it ended up costing me 63 bucks for an hours work and my wipers were working again so i'll second your motion STAY AWAY FROM RUSH PETERBILT.....

I would expect nothing less from Rush as to their customer relations. However most shops will no longer fill the filters, I don't agree but they all say the same thing. And two gallons of lucas man... really?? if your motor needs that then rush is the least of your problems. Although I agree it shouldn't be put in first. actually I always add it with the motor running

Yea, I just purchased a 2006 Pete from the Rush facility in Alice Texas, we not having any problems with the truck, just that the sales person said in the begining they would throw in a couple floor mats and a cap, well, that never happend, and as far as have them do anything to this truck, thats not gona happen, I, will do the oil changes myself, and what ever small items I can, I have 2 years of warranty on the truck, but still, just like you say, they dont have anybody qualifyed to change the oil, very basic, and its really sad to see they dont even have that, a friend took his Pete in to have a rear main replaced, in the process of putting it back to gether, they couldnt get the clutch brake working again, and it was a new one, he eventualy he had to take it to another shop and they fixed it.
We feel your pain

I ran an auto "quick lube" for five years and can tell you a few things. First, Lucas is just a thick oil additive that increases the film thickness of the oil. Its great for well worn engines that have oil consumption problems and/ or lifter noise that a dishones person wants to hide when selling a vehicle. It is nothing more than a glorified engine break-in lubricant. In reality, Lucas just makes things a little quieter and slows down oil burning.
The #### is so thick that it shold not be added first to the engine. It should be added slowly to a running engine after the regular oil fill. Diesel filters should first be primed with regular oil only.
If one truely wants to extend engine life, you should use synthetic lubricants. They do not contain the natural wax / parrafins that exist in standard crude=oil based engine oils. This is what causes the oil to thicken up like molassis when freezing (not desireable at cold startups). This is also what causes sludge build up when the oil detergent additives get used up in the oil.NavigatorWife and OneCosmicGuy Thank this.
