Pyrometer problems

    I have an 06 pete with a 600 cummins the pyrometer gauge red line when i get into high gear. I have changed out the pyrometer sensor and gauge and checked to make sure both mufflers was not bad and blocking the flow and about 9 months age changed out the turbo nothing seems to help. the truck does not lack any power and everything seem to be working good. any info would be helpful

    Any leaks in the air-to-air? or anywhere else in the turbo system intake side?

    no leaks. I can pull over and shut the truck off 2 or 3 time and the pyrometer will start working fine and sometimes it takes 5 or 6 time to work right.

    Cover it with a piece of duct tape. :)

    I just had a cummins ism 400 egr motor do similar the egt was redlining intermittently turned out to be the turbo the vanes inside the turbo were hanging up inside sorry I can't think right now of the name but the turbo still produced boost and past the test on cummins insite I had found a blown exhaust manifold gasket and thought that was it but was not problem checked each cylinder with a heat gun right after a hard pull and all were within 10 degrees tried pulling exhaust to make sue muffler wasent plugged then on a hunch decided to pull the turbo and pull the exhaust housing off and found the vanes were wore from rubbbing on the housing so it was makeing boost but not completly opening and causing a restriction put a new turbo on and its been out 8 months no problems

    Did you hook up an manual pyro gauge to make sure its not in the harness I think 06 has the dash that has the module type gauges the tuck I was working on was an 06 and that's what dash it had

    Would anyone happen to have the part number for the sensor and gauge?
     
  10. Check the ground on the pyro, connect it to a direct ground to battery.

    If your pyro works after that check. The ground is the issue. One bolt by the fuse box goes through firewall. Since your truck is aluminum they have to run all grounds to one location.
