2000 379 bought in may 2011 1.2 million miles based out of Ontario Canada maticulsly maintained one owner but here are the problems I had investigated with the body condition before painting.
    -Window Door sills
-Buldge from corrosion behind both air breathers
-Bunk skins arounf the bottom rail ( Most noticable )
-Cab corners where the stack mount goes
-Air bag mount for the bunck underneath the back

I had new bunk skins put on new panels behind breathers new cab corners and air bag mount I didnt do the door sills due to running out of time, soon tho. I cant believe the amount of trucks I look at that are the exact same way. this truck had three sisters to it and all did the same thing same time and rate of corrosion I have even seen the new style bunk 05-07 do the same thing. Are there any other areas that are going to need attantion in the future that I may of missed?

    Thanks

I would say usually around the visor and windshield especially behind rubbers. If it has roof horns and cab lights they should be looked at too.
Post some pics when you get it finished.
    Good luck,

I have a 97 and have only had a problem with the mounts for the sleeper air bags that are hucked to the bottom of the bunk. The brackets are steel and the bunk is aluminum, the aluminum was corroding and the build up of corrosion had snapped some of the hucks. Getting the old hucks out was a pain, the aluminum really had a hold on them.

You could take a look at all the aluminum castings that are hucked to the steel frame, tank brackets, sleeper bunk air bag lower mounts, suspension mounts. Also the drive axle housings.
