Personally I wouldn't do it, and if I was even considering it, I'd want a sign off from a well trusted mechanic; cuz, like you said, coming from Swift, I doubt its too long before an in-frame at least!

    What does that mean?

You going to see the docs?

I would either have a third party check the truck out or you be on site when it is done. Have the oil checked,, download the ECM and compare it to the other records, then have the entire thing gone through by someone who knows what they are doing and test drive it.

    That's a $12K truck. Max. I'd offer 10.

2007, High miler, $25k Fleet Sale?? That's no deal, you think if they could squeeze more money out of this they wouldn't?? Friend do not rush into this!! If it's such a hot deal there would be a lineup of people waiting to buy one. They are selling them for that price because that's all they can get for them. Too many miles for an emission engine out of a fleet with questionable maintenance. Just my opinion but you shouldn't rush into a possible money pit. Coolant, engine oil, trans oil, diff oil samples through an independent and make sure you pay for it so the results come directly to you.

I agree with the others, SWIFT drivers typically don't give two shakes about their equipment. Not only that, but you'll probably find the C-13 to be underpowered for what your going to be doing, unless you'll be running localish. Our fleet is mostly regen equipped C-13s and lack in the horsepower department.

Star was struggling for several years before they sold out and became a "power partner" for Swift. They ran Cats because they hauled a lot of Cat product. 387s aren't the best of the Pete litter to begin with and those motors were the reason Cat left the North American engine market. I wouldn't do it.
