hard to turn over when hot

    I agree with the cable/battery issue. My Western Star was slow turning over when hot, cleaned the ground to the frame, VOILA. Also, my Pete had a bad cell in one of the batteries, and when hot, it was hard starting. Load test the batteries, I'm sure you'll find a shorted cell.

    Thanks. It has been like this since I bought it. Hope it's nothing serious like a bearing. Will take your advise on oil sample.

    Thanks for the info. Looks like original alternator with scratches on mounting hardware, like I'm not the first one wondering what was going on.
