Can someone tell me if this is a good truck for a dumptruck and does it have the dpf and require the urea fuel additive? The one I am looking at has the Cummins Isx. Just wondering if I should be looking at something else for a dump truck. It does have air trac suspension which I am not familiar with and my partner is not thrilled about that he would like to have a camelback suspension. What are the pros and cons of this truck? Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Half, it depends greatly what you plan to do with the truck. I've done a lot of dump work over the years, and while I'm a big fan of Peterbilt, I'm not sure it's the best truck for off road stuff. For years, the standard of the dump industry was Mack. I drove several, in all kinds of conditions, and you couldn't kill them. The old saying was, "If you break a Mack, you are pretty hard on equipment". If you plan to do stockpiling or asphalt, stuff where you are on the road a lot, the Pete (or KW, KW would be better) would be the way to go. If you plan on doing off road stuff, excavating and such, air ride is not the best. You tend to lose traction as 1 axle lifts (or falls in a hole) and the other spins, and air ride isn't really made for that. Your partner is right, camelback suspension is the toughest out there, and I never had any trouble with Macks. Hope this helps. Good luck. BTW, try and get a pre-emission engine if you can, I've heard nothing but nightmares about emission motors.
