Anyone here drive for Amazon?

Either directly or indirectly? It has been alleged on another forum (EU non drivers' but general) that Amazon drivers are pushed so hard that, apart from mental breakdown, they are forced to break the rules regarding drivers’ hours and forced as a result of reduced breaks to urinate and defecate in their trailers/vans.

I doubt anyone will want to admit to the latter but I would like some ammo if I am to reply.

I have asked the same question on a British drivers' forum as well.

B.S. I thought the same thing, until I signed up as an O/O. All those O/O and AFP drivers you see driving like maniacs like there an 1 hr. late everywhere they go, that's just how they drive. I've picked up at places and watched these guys pass me like I'm standing still, only to get the drop location and after they unhook they go park because they don't have another load or the load they have is not ready. Amazon gives plenty of time, sometimes to much to complete the run.

    Concorde and Spardo Thank this.

Thanks for that @LOTSO , I have posted it along with 3 other quotes from the UK drivers' forum, all along the same lines as you. Sadly for some transatlantic reason my quote of you became one long single line scroll. But they got the message anyway. :)
Some people who know nothing about our industry will believe any nonsense to prove a point.

Are you talking about Amazon linehaul (for lack of a better term) where it's semi trucks hauling full trailers between DCs or are you talking about the delivery van drivers?

Because the conditions and complaints you describe are typically from the delivery van side, but this forum is mostly truck drivers that would haul linehaul for Amazon.

Not specified but I am pretty sure that it is more the delivery vans they were talking about which is why, after some deliberation, I put it in the Local Delivery Trucking Forum.

I live in the countryside where it is a bit of a trek to get to large shops so I am a heavy user of Amazon but there are some city dwellers that think we are killing kids in China and forcing local drivers into mental health issues to keep prices low.

I just wanted some evidence to put against that view.

I hauled Amazon for almost 2 years before I got my own trailer. It's cheap freight, but it's light and I got home every night.

Until this past October 2023 I never had a problem with Amazon schedule times. I averaged 5 stops a day and I drive 61 MPH.

Now if you are ahead of schedule, they update your schedule to make your appointment time earlier.

On the occasional time or two the dispatch is illegal, I post a message to their operations center to inform them the schedule is illegal and give them a good eta.

Thank you, exactly what I expected to hear, I have passed it on with others and we haven't heard from the poster whose brain dead mindset made the original accusations. ;-)
