All the signs in the world aren't going to make any difference. Their GPS didn't tell them to take 220, so they didn't.

Is it both ways or just westbound? I haven’t been that way in a minute.

However, on the west bound side, 220 is the last exit before the construction starts at the 26. That's why they (truckers) get hammered. Once you pass 220 west bound... there are no more exits to get off & you have no place to escape.... no place to exit or turn around. Usually 2 or 3 officers are stationed somewhere around the 220 exit & if you pass it.... your hung.
If you need to make a delivery or pickup in the Bossier city area (on the east side of the Shreveport/Bossier City metro), you need to take 220 & use an exit there to run into the city to make your stop.
I honestly think some of these drivers are indeed making a stop in the city & assume the signs are for "through traffic" & is ok to use if your picking up or making a delivery, so they just run past 220 to make their stop off I-20 into the city. WRONG... you gotta take 220 and then exit off into the city for your stop.
The signage clearly states.. "NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES".
My advice is take 220 around both ways.Last edited: Mar 16, 2024

“Of course we got bad apples in every industry. But I don’t think every one of those truckers, like the seven guys that were there with me, I don’t think none of us could tell us what those signs said because we never saw them,” Calderon said.
Idk what to do with this... I've been through once since that project started and I clearly remember several signsFlat Earth Trucker and Bud A. Thank this. -
Was watching the news here today. Local news is out of Shreveport. I-20 west at a standstill because of a disabled truck blocking road in the construction. Showed several other trucks stuck waiting. Troopers on site.

Anyone who drives knows that there are lots of folks who just don’t read signs. Unfortunately, some of them drive trucks!

When I lived in S'port there were plenty of people who didn't even bother to stop for red lights, they dang sure weren't bothering to read signs.tarmadilo, mjd4277, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I missed snapping a photo of the easternmost sign which would make the sign count five before the Y split.
When I passed through here the other day, I saw two tractor trailers continue on I-20 and past a state trooper. I watched as long as I could and did not see the trooper get after these two.

There's usually several police stationed between the 220 exit & the 26 where the construction begins. Somebody got'em down there somewhere. Troopers will go after them sometimes but usually its a Bossier City local.
That trooper was probably taking a break from a busy day dealing with those trucks.
You seen two. It's not unusual for me to see at least one just about every time I go through there. If I see that many within 4 or 5 minutes, that I can visually watch traffic go by that intersection, you know its a constant thing all day long. There's no telling how trucks blow by all those signs everyday & still continue across I-20 into the construction. Its unbelievable. If I didn't see it for myself, I'd think people are just blowing it out of proportion... stretching the truth. Unfortunately, I go through there 2 or 3 times a week average... each way, and within the +/-5 minutes that I can watch that stretch of road, I'll see at least one truck just about every time.Last edited: Mar 28, 2024
