Independent owner operators can get work from many different sources, very often including "Load Brokers" (i.e. the spot market). Although if this concept is new to you, trying to learn these things by asking questions one at a time on a forum is not the way to go. One suggestion? Youtube can be surprisingly educational, as well as entertaining. Most drivers here would also say work in the industry for a few years before you even consider becoming an owner operator. Or at a minimum, be ready to do a whole lot of research first. As well, I've heard many old timers recently saying that this is currently the worst freight market that they've ever seen for O/O's. It's NOT a great time to be getting started.
BTW - you do have a minimum of around $40k to $50k of startup cash available, are over about 27 years old (are mature), and have both an excellent credit rating and driving/criminal record? If not, you're likely getting way ahead of yourself. Try getting your license and a job first. And you'll probably - right now at least - end up making more money and sleeping better than most O/O's. Good luck.
