You will most likely be able to get a CDL. Those "schools" make their money by getting a CDL for anyone with a pulse.
As for getting a job, well, that's another story altogether. If it was me, I would do everything I could to get away from the methadone and move to something that is acceptable. Note also the guidance is for interstate commerce. If you intend to run intrastate only, check your state's regulations.
Yeah...wikipedia is always right, right? *snickers* -
If you want my own personal opinion, which you probably don't but I don't particularly care, if you are taking methadone on a maintenance type basis, stay out of a truck and off the roads I have to share with you. You might as well be taking morphine as far as I'm concerned and I really don't want to be around you while you are operating heavy equipment.

Just like anyone can buy a car or get a license, but you have to qualify to drive. Legal or not.
I'd say get a safer prescription, and if pain is an issue might want to look into a different career.Injun Thanks this. -
Let's try it this way......
You are on methadone.
The drug test does not test for it.
The regulations still say that you CANNOT drive if you use it.
If you are caught with it - you are DONE DRIVING.
Because it is ILLEGAL to drive a CMV while on it.
Yes, you can have a CDL.
No you CANNOT driv a Commercial Motor Vehicle.

I only stated the poster would not like my answer. -
also pain is not the issue to the other post...
which medication would you suggest would be safer ?? or allowed by the DOT ? is suboxone allowed ??. also i've been on the maintenance program for over 2 years... i am drug freee and i am detoxing from the methadone... i have been driving a regular car and (thanx to god) have never had an accident (i know CMV is different). -

Why would you waste the time and money for getting a cdl when you will not be qualified to drive one?
If your friend is going to hire you and is the employer doing the tests, you have alot to learn. They have to use a qualified lab. -
what do you mean by QUALIFIED ???
does that mean that pre-employment screening will test for methadone ?
also the school requires a medical clearance before you get the CDL... do you mean i will not quailfy because of the medical clearance ? please give more detail
