K, so the unplugged EGR helped lower temp by about 6F, but the problem with oil is still there. I also just noticed after sleeping overnight with engine totally off, i turned the gages and checked out oil temp and it was 85F, and it seems a little high, i have a feeling that the temp sensor could be bad. Because before after after having truck shut off i remember that my temp was around 60-50 on days like this. Does anyone know where is this oil temp sensor i want to replace it before doing the T-stat?

I had a similar problem on my ISX 530. On a hill my oil temp would climb to above 250. Problem was a $32 water temp sensor. Look at your water temp. It should be running 180. If it is not, your problem is likely to be your water temp sensor. I spent a ton of money letting monkeys troubleshoot this. What a waste of money for a cheap little sensor.

The oil temp sensor is located just behind the fuel filter, just below the back of the integrated fuel system module on the block. This sensor is both temperature and pressure.

I took some shots, can you confirm what i showed is OIL TEMP SENSOR?
Thank youAttached Files:

no, that is fuel sensor. the oil sensor is directly behind that fuel filter, the sensor goes into the engine block itself. look directly behind and to the rear of that fuel filter and you will see the sensor in the block.

Yep, that looks good. The sensor should have 4 wires going to it.

Hey guys I have an ISX Cummins 565 engine that had the oil cooler replaced 8 months ago. It's in an International 9400I 2001 model. Why would this oil cooler fail again after only 8 months of running?? I perform all maintenance regularly on this engine with Mobil Delvac, 2 gallons of Lucas Oil Treatment. What gives on this?? Any help will be greatly appreciated BIGTIME!
