Is anyone running this combination? Good, bad or ??? I'm looking to upgrade my turbocharger, I'm leaning towards the Bully Dog because it's a straight bolt on, but I've got a couple of friends who are running the Holset combo and swear by it. Looking for thoughts from others. Let me know your thoughts, pro and con.

as for big rigs, dont know,m but coming from the Dmax world, Bully Dog=No no.

I've seen too many trucks show up at dyno cntests with Holset turbos on them that did not build good power for the parts on the engine. Power is usually down 100-125 hp to the tires. The reason for this is the exhaust housing is very restrictive and creates high drive pressure versus boost pressure. The engine will build 55 psi of boost but have 65-70 psi of exhaust back pressure in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. If you increase the exhaust housing size to get it to flow properly then they get very sluggish at low-mid engine RPM and build high EGT's whie cruising.

Mr. Haney how can I get in touch with you.

Mr. Haney, any experience with the Bully Dog turbo?
-
Yes, I know how to build a Bully Dog Stage 1 turbo for the CAT application.
It is a very good turbo up to 700-725 hp. Very fast response with a newer design ETT compressor wheel. Balance between the exhaust back pressure and boost psi is 1:1 through out the complete RPM range.
The problem is getting the components to build one. The parts aren't readily available depending on the distributors inventory at times. I'd have to make some phone calls to see if the parts are available and prices if you're interested in one. -

Donk Thanks this.

Any thing can go wrong with any manufactor, but I have seen Holsets come apart on the air side and literally saw the air cover off and leave it dangling by the innercooler piping...so I tend to stick with other manufactors. The Turbos Mr. Haney is speaking of work well.

The thing I always look at with holset is that they haven't released a new medium or large frame turbo in the last 10 or so years it seems like, there stuff works, but Garrett and Borg-Warner are leaving them in the dust with their newer products.
