Just curious as to why you would want to ?
-
A hammer will work.
But in all seriousness why are you wanting to disable them. They have been proven to reduce crashes by about 10%. -
Are they required in canada? Seems as though every canuck has em on..
-
Since 1990 they have been required on all new vehicles purchased. I believe if you import one to Canada you need to have it enabled as well.
-
1.) My truck is white and Kawasaki green. If they can't see me, two lights ain't gonna help.
1.) I just don't like them on and want them off
3.) my manifold switches or ECM is having issues and now they stay on even when parked
its on a '99 Century -
They're not on big good Pete's or W900 so I don't believe they are required. As for Canada
this truck will never see that side of the border as long as I own it. -
I won't buy a vehicle with daytime running lights. Unless it's raining or foggy, as soon as the sun is up, lights go off until the sun goes down again. I can't bring myself to believe that people can't see an 8.5' wide, 13.5' tall truck coming at them, but rather that their impatience gets the better of them and they'd rather take their chances getting hit than be "stuck" behind a "slow" truck.
Besides that, I ride a motorcycle. Motorcycles are required to burn their headlights 24/7 so that they stand out in traffic. If every knucklehead driving a car or truck has their headlights on, motorcycles blend in again and become harder to pick out in traffic.
Daytime running lights ought to be illegal for anything with 4 or more wheels.EZ Money Thanks this. -
There's a relay somewhere. Find it and remove it.
I liked them on my 06. At night when I flashed drivers over my headlights would go off and the DTR would come on. They weren't my brights so it worked for everyone. -
Every truck I have ever been around that had daytime running lights had a fuse in the fuse relay that you could remove to disable the DRL. Did not affect the regular lights. I drove a '96 T600 that had daytime lights, and my '06 International had them. I just pulled the fuse and disabled it.As for the question "why would you want to?" One reason is so that you are not distracting a person trying to back into a dock while you are moving thru a lot. There are other reasons.
