You no how through-out the year we have awareness month for different things, motorcycle awareness month, there is a whole list of things that is cover throughout a month. I think that throughout the year we should have Truck Awareness Month, maybe even a few times a month. 2 or 3 times a month. I no that I am a new driver, and i have not yet been on the rd as a solo driver yet, as i am about to start this week tho. however, bases on driving in training i have seen some of the stupid-ist driver out there, people really dont think. I have seen first had what all my trainers have told me about stupid drivers. people really dont think about the 80,000lbs of truck they are cutting off, or stopping hard in front of cause a bird is in the street, those people dont realize what kind of jepordy they just put them selfs in.
truck drivers go through some pretty good training on how to look ahead as far as you can to see what traffic is doing in front. but in the blink of an eye some dum, careless driver cuts you off, they think that we can stop our trucks as fast as they can stop their cars..... i think this needs to be brought up to the publics attention.
yeah, the 4wheelers that post here are understanding, but most of this countries population has no idea the risk they take.... how do we go about doing this??
i may have posted in the wrong section., but im sure people on here will have an idea of how to go about this.

and the aggravating thing is, just about everything out there is a preventable accident to us since we are the professional driver. just about the only thing i can think of thats a non preventable accident is if some one rear ends you. so yea, we have to be VERY careful out there.

And it will get worse before it gets better, had a four wheeler try to pull me over in my tri-axle dump, just the other week, how stupid is that, pulls in front of me and slows and cuts me off until I have no choice but to stop. Our company policy is not to stop, phone # is on the door, I found a gear and went around him. I think there is no end to the antics of the general publc, I always carry at least one camera and I use it liberrally. I hear that there is a bracket available to mount a camcorder inside the truck on a four hour loop, I am cosidering installing one. Three or four hundred bucks is worth it to me if it helps keep me out of the can.
What the bleep! -
yes, i already thought about mounting a camera in the cab myself, and then, after im sure driving just less then an hour, ill have enough video to submit to the media, and the trucking assoc. to have them realize that we need all this brought to the publics attention.
