I'm not sure how I feel about piloting a truck like that.

That is great!! The technology will get better, and even safer. Eventually drivers will be more replaceable, making trucking more accessable. With lower wages, better safety, and more freight being hauled the country profits.
In the very short term us drivers may be negatively affected. However history will look upon us like the ludites breaking up factories, if we try to stop progress.
The printing press cost a few thousand scribes their jobs, but gave an unforseen numbers access to jobs that didn't exist, and allowed the common man access to literature.
Every great invention has scared those in the affected industry. It scared everyone into thinking humans would be replaceable. But as we see throughout history progress increases productivity, and frees up human capital to devote their time to other endeavors.
