But they said no!
I'm not sure we what company makes the gold ones for Con-way. -
Status symbol ? Show that your married to the truck and your wife ?
Shrug, just seems odd to me. But each his own. -
Might become a collectors item once they start giving out XPO rings
-
I doubt we'll be a part of XPO long enough for them to give out any XPO rings.
-
double yellow Thanks this.

Not that it's really any of your business, but let me try to briefly explain.
When I was hired at Con-way Truckload, a big deal was made about the fact that we would be receiving a GOLD Con-way Service Ring once we had driven 360,000 miles for Con-way Truckload. At each additional 120,000 a diamond would be added to the ring.
They even went so far as to pass a ring around for everyone to "oooo and ahhhh" over during orientation.
Well, fast forward a year. They change the program. The new program is that they give a worthless stainless steel ring at 120,000 miles and then add diamonds to that worthless ring at 120,000 intervals.
They grandfathered in anyone who had 240,000 miles or more at the time the program changed. But those of us who hadn't had time to attain the 240,000 miles were not grandfathered in, and were stuck with the worthless ring, in spite of having been be promised a GOLD ring.
They are even still awarding GOLD rings to drivers who had 240,000 miles as of the date of the program change that have left the company and come back! Which makes no sense at all. So, they'll give a GOLD ring to a guy that's left and come back, but not to one who's been loyal enough to stay the whole time? Ridiculous!
So, I want the GOLD ring that I was promised intead of the worthless "participation trophy" that is the stainless steel ring.
I've driven the miles and am actually about to go over 480,000 miles with them. So, instead of the worthless ring with 3 diamonds in it, I want the GOLD ring that I was promised.
It's not much of an accomplishment to stay at a company long enough to drive 120,000 (about a year), so the stainless steel ring is meaningless in that pretty much everyone gets one.
The GOLD ring however, represents an accomplishment that not everyone attains.
Bottom line, I want a GOLD ring and am willing to buy one if someone wants to get rid of theirs. -
Buying your own would be worthless, would have no meaning, If Con-Way changed their policy, just go with it, or leave, find another job that offers a gold ring, JCT use to, not sure if they still do... But I have a gold ring i'd sell you, its not a Con-Way gold ring though!
The Gryphon Thanks this. -
I left it there over a year ago. I was very close to qualifying for the 2nd diamond, so I just told them to keep it until I qualified for the 2nd diamond and put it in before i pick it up. They did. Now I'm close to qualifying for the third diamond, so I'll just have them put that one in it in before I pick it up.
I might occasionally wear a gold Con-way ring, that not everyone who can fog a mirror gets.
But I'll never wear that "participation trophy" and I'm not going to stay there long enough to get the new gold "safety ring" that they now give at 1,000,000 miles, even if XPO doesn't stop the program altogether after the buyout is complete.
And I neithet want a ring from a company I never drove for, nor will I go to a company just to get a ring. It's not even really about the ring,.
It's about the recognition of the accomploshed milestone.
So, no, it wouldn't be worthless to me.
I just wish people would keep their word. But I guess that's too much to ask these days.
