Looking for some advice from the experts. I have a dually pickup and plan to carry it on the back of my 53' step deck when I am hauling my other equipment to our jobsites. Wondering what the best method is. I might haul this same truck multiple times a month to multiple places. I don't mind buying whatever to do it right.

Buy basket wheel straps. Or you could use chains on 4 points.

Buy some R,T,S hooks clusters with short pieces of chain attached to use in the slots in the pickup's frame rails and then chain to the rub rail or D rings on your step deck.

    MattyB6T, Hammer166 and Terry270 Thank this.

If he is going to have different employees tying it down from time thats a horrible idea. They wont chain it tight enough or use the correct frame holes.

You do not need it super, super tight. It only needs to be prevented from moving front to back, or side to side. nothing wrong with letting a vehicle bounce a little while enroute. As long as the chains stay tight the suspension can flex. Chaining down a vehicle with brute force can bend frames and cause damage. A dually was made to be secured with chains, not wheelstraps, especially those that pull to the side and put undue stress on wheel bearings. My opinion, nothing more. agree or not I do not care.....

No employees tieing it down. Well they might help but I personally check every single chain and trailer coupling before we move.

I have never used those RTSJ hooks but I have seen them.

I have tied down several vehicles with chains before just have to be careful with the brake lines, wires, etc. I am sure I could get it secured just was looking into a more polished solution. I will check the hooks.

You can chain pretty much everything except newer European cars without damaging anything unless you're a complete moron

    MattyB6T Thanks this.
