I've got almost 3 years with MCT of my 4 year driving career. I have yet to recall a time that I've been lied to, forced to run illegal, or forced to do anything I didn't feel comfortable with. Everyone in the office is nice, and you're free to walk in and say hello to.... anyone. Even in these tough times, I can still count on running an average of 3500mi/week with coast to coast runs. You can run as hard as you want to.

Note that MCT is an O/O company and doesn't own any tractors, therefore, I drive for a fleet leased to MCT.

The first fleet was Wood Trucking in Wauseon, OH. While there are some perks to them, as I lived down the road, there was much to be desired when it came to benefits, pay, and other features (ie: IPass/Prepass, etc).

The second fleet (Currently with) is BP Transportation (formerly JCJ Trucking). These are overall nice people, the pay is higher than most other fleets leased to MCT, and they give you perks such as: IPass/PrePass, and their currently working on getting APU's on the trucks. The medical is about average, and the trucks are in decent shape as long as you're willing to give them the time to make repairs and keep up on PM's getting done.

As with most places, it's expected to know that sometimes it'll get fixed when it breaks. As long as you can accept this, then there's no problem. (example: I had told them for months the alternator was going out.. after their "testing" they told me nothing was wrong with it.. until it finally died in Primm, NV and I had to run from there to Las Vegas, NV with jumper cables from the batteries to the reefer... $800 later, I got a new alternator)

MCT's training program is quite extensive in my opinion and I would choose them again if I had to do it again. As with any other company that accepts students, a good trainer is the luck of the draw.

Anyway, that's my general experience with them. I haven't seen many posts so I thought I'd drop a line.

PS: Stay away from the lease purchase program, and OOIDA has a fit after reading their lease contract.

Any questions? Feel free to drop me a line. :)

I live in Sioux Falls and too have worked there and loved every minute there. The tons of miles, non-forced dispatched, and 80+ drop/hook was my average. However short miles suck and fleet owners can be shady. My first one had my truck repoed right out of the yard lucky I got my stuff back, second got rid of my truck and never told me until after it was done. The last was great I just needed insurance and I was topped at 29cpm and I personally need more than that. The first was CSC construction, the second was Stone Creek(Joe) dont work for him and the last was Scott . Like I said at 4.5 years I deserve more than that.

Is that first fleet you worked for still around? I am pretty close to them.

Yeah, Woods is still around. Here are some opinions, and some facts. (This is assuming we both live near Woods in Wauseon, OH)

    --------------------------------------------------

Benefits of driving for Woods (Wauseon, OH):
-Drop the truck off at the shop, go home, come back, ready to go out of the shop..
-Very high rate of perdiem... pay less taxes.. bring home more!

    Drawback of driving for Woods:
-Low Pay (With almost 4 years experience, I would get .26cpm)
-ALL tolls paid cash out of pocket, wait to get reimbursed
    -No PrePass
-Perdiem not done correctly, hope IRS doesn't come after you. (Unless this has changed)
-(When I ran Solo) Rarely ever saw west coast.

Benefits of Driving For BPT (Peru, IL):
    -IPass/Prepass
-Higher Pay rates for experience (Currently getting .33cpm. 1yr Annv. I get a penny raise.. WOOHOO!)
    -Working on putting APU's on
-BPT trucks run more west-coast freight
    -Direct deposit.

    Drawback of driving for BPT:
-No Perdiem option. Keep your logbooks!
-Having to hang out in the shop for 1+ days to get PM and work done on your truck. No pay.
-Mechanics sometimes ignore your plea to fix something that's on its way out.. Fix it when it breaks. (Has happend to me MANY times)
-Dealing with getting back and forth on your own expense for orientation, or if you're turning your truck in.. (come up with a plan before it happens).

    Hope this helps. :)

No No No.. I mean you just gotta deal with getting to the shop to get work done.. like you'll deal with at TMC I'm sure, but you can take the truck home. The nice thing about going with MCT and BPT is that you can get home usually very easy by just relaying your load (or dropping your MT) at Woods, and bobtail to your house.

I take my truck home all the time.

I use to work in Metamora at the grain elevator (2000/2001), I live in Swanton.

Does MCT pay percentage or mileage?

Well first let me begin by saying that the reason I've posted them here is not for their pay, its just my everyday dealings with them in comparrison to other places I've drove for.. I looked into leasing to them and personally, I don't think its the right thing for me. When I ran the numbers, I didn't like what I saw, but.. I'm not an experienced O/O.. just a company driver.. so with that said...

They pay milage.. sliding scale. I wish I had the numbers, but if I remember correctly, at the bottom of the scale, any load 1300mi and higher pays .87/mi + FSC (which I didn't think was all that great, but I'm just a company driver..)

I have heard rumors (Note: RUMORS, not confirmed) that their slightly hungry for O/O's, and have taken O/O's with their own power and reefer trailers.. in which case they pay percentage, and no, I don't know how much.

    Hope this helps.

    Les2 Thanks this.

Yeah it's probable. I was 18 or 19 when I worked there.. worked along Kim, if you remember her. There for a while they had me down at Lyons working.

Funny how when someone brought me breakfast in the morning something as simple as moisture or FM suddenly went down.. :)
