Will the first day went great, untill I went to get my blood pressure checked and the girl told me that it was 174/104. With that being said I new that was wrong decause my bp has never ran that high, for the last 2 weeks before coming to prime I had my bp checked every day it ran at 134/83 on average. All of my family has medical background, with my wife being and registered nurse, and two friends of mine being boctors. So I go back tomorrow to have it recheck I don't know what to do if she tells me the same thing.

Well that's a bummer! I hope the reading is different tomorrow but it does seem odd that it's that high when it hasn't been before (and you've been checking it). Makes you wonder a bit about who or how they're taking it.

Try to get a good night's rest, and lay off the coffee in the morning. It's likely the stress from the trip in, and everything you went through today. In the morning when you get to the docs office, just concentrate on slow steady deep breaths and try to pick a spot on the wall to focus on while your bp is being taken. You'll do fine.

Hmmm...maybe if they do the pee test first they won't notice the Valium I take to keep me relaxed! :biggrin_25526:

The bigger question is do you have a problem with your blood pressure? If you don't, Why the need to get it checked everyday? If they send you home. Get on some bp meds and come back it's not the end of the world.

Same thing happened to me. I know that the cuff they used was too small, as the nurse (?) used her thumb on the Velcro to keep it from separating.

Next day they brought in the "big cuff" for the retest. Results were normal.

"Lab coat phenominum" anyone"? If you are nervous in a doctor's office, you will read high. (sorry about the spelling) Get them to take several readings, do round breathing throughout. When you calm down, your BP will go down two. You're probably pretty calm around relatives when doing practice rounds, but, in a medical lab, your nerves will throw the BP results off. "Bin there, over-done that"!

Actually its called "white coat" but same thing. Obviously it wasn't a real nurse because 174/104 is pre stroke stage and you should have been taken to the er. Try garlic pills. Also the cuff size and at least for me the right arm is always lower than my left arm. I check mine every day and I run in the low 130s high 120s. Using the garlic im down to low 120's almost every time.
