    Welcome in advance.

Ignore the uninformed naysayers unless they actually work/have worked here & have had direct personal experience. Seems to happen in every thread here.

Retired gov't that started second career here, and have had nothing but a great experience. Thought of doing this 30yrs ago, now kicking myself that I didn't do it back then. Like any job, there will be frustrations. But, all in all, I wouldn't trade my life now for anything else. I absolutely love it & have ZERO regrets. I make #### good money, and know many here that do the same. It's all dependent on how YOU run & operate.

It's all going to boil down to whether this lifestyle will be a fit for you. And, it is definately a life rather than a job. You'll hear that a lot, but there is really no way to actually impress this on you till you are actually out here and experience it yourself. That's when you'll know if it will work out. Definately not the life for most, and probably why so many seem to be unhappy.

Job will be what you make of it. Decent money is there to be made if you run right & have right attitude. It really does all come back to attitude & approach. A majority of folks actually out on the road cannot do this for whatever reasons, and never comprehend it. Typical nature of people, I guess. This goes far to explain all the negativity you will see. And man, folks out here can sure complain. Always an external source to blame everything on, but never an iota of personal responsibility. Plain & simple fact, it all starts & ends with the individual themselves.

Remember there are some great folks here to help, some of whom I will be forever indebted to. Several have become good friends. There will be many others when you get here.

Originally from & retired from Cleveland, OH. Came out to SpringMo from VA. Have also lived in OK, TX, CO, MO & Mexico. Sure I forgot others.

Best of luck to you with your decision

    PEACE ;)

Excellent summation of the reality of it.

I am new to all this, but I knew going into it that the OTR lifestyle was not for me. I have a wife and a young daughter at home. Were it not for them I would love the OTR life. I did put a crap-ton of research into different companies before I chose Prime. So far I haven't found anything that I was wrong about. If you want to enter into this industry, I believe you can choose Prime with full confidence of being treated fairly and honestly. I have been.

My father was actually an OTR driver so I know kinda what he went through. I know it will be a change and so does my wife. We have spent several nights talking about this idea. We have decided that a some time appart now means more together when its time to retire. We have some long term financial plans that the extra money I can make out there working my butt off will definately help with those plans. I know its not all lollypops and rainbows but hay I gotta do something lol
