I've noticed that none of prime flatbed trucks have tire chains..but all the reefer trucks I've seen have chains..is there a reason for that?

That's because they have freight that is more time sensitive.

what does freight have to do with anything????

some states will give you a ticket for not having chains.

just because you dont see them, does not mean they dont have them.

I run Reefer and my chains are under my bunk where I plan for them to stay :) So as said just because you don't see them it doesn't mean they don't have them as a lot of us don't hang them on the truck just so they can rust.

Unless I'm mistaken, many trucks/drivers don't run out West where you must have chains during part of the year... but that's also extra weight and is good to lose if it's not required.

Flatbed side usually has more storage for things so they're probably just hiding them somewhere. When I was there, Prime made all their drivers have chains.

They put a step box on for flatbed instead of a chain rack. For better or worse.
