I looked on the prime website about training thru them to get my class A. Lets just say im confused now. Not sure on time and process it would take me from walking in there training facility to getting in my own truck in flatbed. If anyone has done this I would love some insight. I am not new to driving a truck. I have driven our farm truck and flatbed on our farm for many years.
I just have never obtained my class A. I also have hauled cars with 1ton/wedge for many years. I say this just to let whoever know if this "experience" would speed the process. Thanks for the help!

Will explain just about everything you want to know. Company website tends to be a little dated.

Cannot give a specific time frame, as situations & circumstances will vary, & also the individual.

In short, you will do a minumum of 75hrs driving time in PSD before testing out for your CDL.

After that, a minimum of 40,000mi in TNT (training) before upgrading to your own truck.

Flatbed has some additional securement training if you don't train with a flatbed, but I think that isn't too much more time. I run reefer, so not sure about flatbed. But, initial training is the same.

Could be anywhere from 2/3mos with no hitches. Lot of variables here.

You will have to start from beginning. Only way it would be faster would be if you actually hold a current CDL.

Read through thread linked here. It's pretty detailed. Then, if there are more question......ask away.

    ;)

This is off top of my head. I'm just waiting on a load. Sure anything wrong will be corrected by someone.

    Good luck on your research.

Do you happen to know the minimum time out required for flatbed before home time is allowed.

Don't think there is any difference in divisions as far as OTR goes. Want you out a minimum of 3wks at a time, preferably longer. There are of course, dedicated & regional routes.......but I think you have to get experience in first.
Again, I know little to nothing about flatbed. I'm on the reefer side of things.

Home time is gained at 1 day per week out, and taken at 3/4 days max at a time.
