Hey everyone I was thinking of attending primes academy to get my cdl and working for them. I had a few questions. How much money should I bring with me for food etc? Does prime pay for the trip out there? Also I am overweight but really tall. Does prime have issues with overweight drivers? Also,I'm open to any other advice you all want to give me.

I am thinking about attending their school too. My question: Is there a designated safe parking lot for students where you can leave your car for the duration of the training? I'll be coming from out of state and don't really want to get to the school on a Greyhound bus.

For FootballFan: I spent some time on YouTube researching on Prime Inc. It seems to get good reviews from employees. I think they give students allowance of $200 and deduct it from your pay once you start your employment with them. Make sure your driving record doesn't have 15 mph over the speeding limit tickets. As I understood it disqualifies you for insurance reasons. I might be wrong though.

You really don't need much. Everything is covered while you are at orientation, and once you clear orientation, Prime will loan you $200/week, which you pay back once you upgrade.

Prime pays for the bus ticket. I've been told that they will reimburse other methods of transportation, up to the cost of the bus ticket.

I doubt that you are more overweight than I am, and I had no problems. As long as you can pass the physical, you're fine.

That is a Recruiter Question<TM>, but my guess is that there is. The parking at the Campus Inn is gated, but I don't know if they will allow you to park there when you are out on the road. I know that there is driver parking at the Millennium Building, but not if there's any room, or if students are allowed to park there.

Having money available is always preferable to taking a loan and paying it back no matter how reasonable the payments are. Best advice have some money in a checking account with a debit card. You're going to want that for when you're on the road and trying to deal with life. The checking account is the best way to deal with your paycheck in any case. Have a canceled check available so you can set up a direct deposit.

That's the way it works. If you want to fly for example, let your recruiter know so they can reimburse you the price of the bus ticket.

You may have to take a sleep test. That's done at the terminal.

There is a secure lot that you'd be allowed to park in. You have to register with security to get the permissions added to your ID/Fuel card.
