I'm going to be in the November 10th class and I'm really looking forward to it.
I've read a ton of posts in this section, including FullMetalJacket's entire thread, and people seem to enjoy these types of threads, so I will blog my experience here.
A little background on me, I've been driving a Fedex Ground package truck route for the past couple years and decided getting my CDL was a wise career choice and Prime was the best company to do that with. Coming in with my permit in hand and an understanding of what to expect throughout this process, trying to be as prepared as possible. Let the journey begin!

Greetings from Campus Inn. Was an interesting flight into Chicago and an also interesting flight into Springfield. The Springfield airport is like a ghost town. I was waiting to see Rick Grimes and a herd of walkers run past me. The majority of people on the Springfield flight were people from Ireland. There was some sort of Irish celebrity doing something in Branson and all of these Micks were following him there, something like that. My heritage is Irish so I found it enlightening.
Anyways, I got into Springfield airport and called the shuttle. The driver was super nice. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to tip him or not but I gave him a 5 when he got to the Campus Inn office. He was nice enough to drive me back to my building when I came out.
Got settled in and took a walk. I have a refrigerator in my room so that's a good bonus. Walked to Walgreens and grabbed a bottle of juice that I want in the morning. Stopped at Culvers on the way back and grabbed dinner. The cute girl at the register asked my if I was a Prime employee and I said "kind of" and got a 10% discount. Nice.
Thought I'd be able to just mellow out for the rest of the night and watch the Michigan State game, but I just realized this hotel room has no soap. I have to take another quick walk to that gas station.Last edited: Nov 9, 2014

You should have a paperwork package to complete, and if the Sim lab is open you'll want to get a head start on that. Don't be late to anything, take it all seriously, and keep your cell phone ringer off when in class. Good luck!
