They way I understand it is you will need the approval letter from Homeland Security/TSA to give the DMV to transfer HAZMAT, HAZMAT is just an other worthless ineffective money grab , Heck any terrorist would not go thru the crap to get a CDL and hire on with a company with all the crap a company puts new hires thru,,
Terrorist will in the future get 5 or 10 of their buddies to all park at railroad crossings at the same time and derail trains everywhere so the can all go to paradise and get 72 virgin "Rosie O'Donnels" or "Bruce Jenners"mpow66m Thanks this. -
Its been my understanding that HazMat will NOT transfer from state to state.

Yes, they will give you a 90-day temporary endorsement.

If your background check is still good for more than a year then you SHOULD be able to leave with a HME on there, you'll still have to retake the knowledge test though. I know there's some states the don't allow you to transfer the background check but in my research for others most do. Keep in mind that you may just wind up having an HME that dies way earlier than your license though. I tried googling up some info on the HI DMV sites and holy crap are those things terrible! It seems that each county has a different DMV system? No way to tell from that mess. I'd call.

I know this for sure having had a CDL form another state (Michigan with HM). Texas will not allow you to transfer the HME from another state. They will give you a 90 day temp endorsement, but you will have to do a new background check and take the written test. It really sucks.
