    Show proof or shut up.

Will be hard for you since you were not there when I worked for the companies and I will not tell you the names.

    Let's set it straight:

USUALLY the hiring company will pay the cost for a company driver. They might pay it for an L/P or O/O but take it back out of a settlement.

They can charge a company driver for it if he quits by with holding it from a final paycheck. If you pay for the physical DEMAND a copy of the long form! Especially if you get fired as a company driver and they with hold the cost! If you pay it's yours!

The long form physical is described in FMCSA rule 391.43.
There is NO what the company wants on this form! What FMCSA wants is what you get tested for UNLESS the company wants any other tests like a strength and movement test or sleep apnea test then that's just extra crapola you have to go through. But from what I've been hearing if your BMI score is to high FMCSA might be putting that into the rules. It's only hearsay and rumor for now that I know of.

Concerta does a DOT physical. Look in your phone book for occupational health services and you should be able to find some company that does a DOT physical or you can down load the form and take it to your PCP and let him/her do it. The p test let the company pay for!

My last DOT I took cost me $85 and that was over a year ago and the way prices skyrocket It could be worse! Keep the receipt as it's tax deductible!

Student drivers do usually pay for their first one - most reputable schools won't enrole you unless you can pass a DOT physical. Once you're employed as a company driver, you won't have to pay for them.

Look up Concentra clinics in the phone book and give them a call. That should give you a good idea of the ballpark charge.

I In another week I start at Dahlstens and a guy who is hiring on with me they are sending him to get his DOT at their cost this coming Friday. But I was just leaving the doctors office, renewing mine, when they called to do the final interview.

When we go to orientation the 8th, I'm going to ask if they will reimburse me for the cost of mine since they aren't having me get another one. What would be the purpose? If they do great, but if not, oh well...I was renewing before I hired on with them anyway.

What I don't understand is I've read on company sites/applications asking if you have a DOT card. Like a requirement but yet they still will send you to 'their' doctor. Why ask if you plan on making someone get one anyhow? Don't you normally see the 'company doctor' before orientation begins?

Asking if you "have one" ensures the new company that you are physically capable of passing a DOT physical...

Sending you to "their doctor" is CYA for the company - that way they know which "quack" is signing the forms for legal purposes.
