I need help. I am in training for Roehl flatbed, working on my workbook problems. There is a chart problem asking WLL limits for different devices.
I can't find the answers for the snap and ratchet binders in my cargo securement or FMCSA book.

The WLL on snap & ratchet binders very from what kind you actually have. Their should be a stamp on the binders to give you this information.
-
Being that you have access to the internet, your here. You may be able to google the info.
-
I need a cigarette anyways... So I go outside & look at my equipment to give you an idea of what to look for & where....
-
On my 5/16 snap binders the WLL is 5400 pounds. It is stamped on the handle of my binders.
A 3/8 binder will have a different WLL -
1/4 = 2600
5/16-3/8 = 5400 lbs
3/8-1/2= 9200 lbs
1/2-5/8 = 13,000
That's what I found on google. Other than that, I'm clueless. DOH! Evidently binders will accept two chain sizes. -
http://www.buffersusa.com/files/2905%20Ratchet%20Straps.pdf these are the straps I have been using recently WLL ratings are on the spec sheets.
-
Yes they do! The hook is large enough to go over the chain links. -
Thanks for all your quick replies.
I am not on the road, just home doing my homework.I think the book they gave me isn't that good.I can't seem to find a table for the 2 types of binders, only for the chains, straps ect. And the FMC book does,t spec. it either. thanks again you guys are great. -
