Well I got the call yesterday from Athens Tech that I was officially accepted into their Commercial Truck Driving class. I got funding through the Hope Grant so the class is paid for.

There were some out of cost expenses like the dot physical, drug test, fuel fee, and technology fee that were not covered but that was not a whole lot of money.

I start January 3rd, 2011 and will post updates as I go through the class for anyone that is interested in reading them. As of right now I am not sure what my plans are after I finish. I will just wait and see what happens. There are supposedly employers that show up to the school looking to hire when the course nears the end. So we will see.

Anyway, hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years. Be safe out there all you current drivers.

    wulfman75 Thanks this.

Dude, I really needed this laugh. For realz.

I have some sad news for anyone that is bothering to follow this thread. Just days before Christmas, while on my way to work, someone hit me in my personal vehicle fracturing my lower spine. I spent 5 days in the hospital and was released Christmas eve.

As I first posted, I was supposed to start at Athens Tech Jan 3. to take the CDL course. Obviously this is not going to happen now.

It will take approx. 5-6 weeks for the vertebrae to heal and then therapy after that. Surgery is still a possibility at this point if the vertebrae does not fuse back together properly. Only time will tell about that.

So that is pretty much it in a nutshell for now. I will keep ya'll posted as to my progress in the physical recovery end of this deal.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Years and be safe out there.

Yes this does suck. Not sure about permanent damage. Too soon to tell. I go back for follow up exam and x-rays on the 11th so I will have a better idea of what to expect then. Right now just spending my time on my back in this crazy body brace. Oh what fun.
