I don't see DAC going away any time soon. DAC can give carriers a quick check on a driver's performance at other carriers. CSA will only report on any violations. I can see both being of use. DAC only reports what carriers have reported to them. One problem that I have with DAC is that carriers are very limited in how they can report. I have had a couple of things put on my DAC that were not correct, but it hasn't affected me. Carriers don't rely totally on what has been reported on DAC. It is merely a means to do a "quick check" on a driver and what they have put on their application.

CSA can be good for drivers who do their jobs. For those who like to do the minimum to get by, it can be a problem. Those who refuse to do a proper pre trip or keep a check on their equipment will now be held accountable. Those who receive multiple tickets will now be held accountable. Carriers and insurance companies will be able to check to see how a driver works and how he maintains his assigned equipment without the possibility of having a reference turn out to be the drivers brother in law.

There are some limitations on what a carrier can report to DAC due to the possibility of litigation. Some carriers will only verify that a driver has worked for them, how long and whether they are rehirable. Other than that, some won't put anything else on your report. If you quit a company it is up to you to keep good records and document anything that happened. When you turn in your equipment have your carrier sign off that you returned their equipment as directed and that it was in good repair when they received it. If it is later reported that you abandoned the truck you have documentation that you returned it as directed and it was not abandoned.

I wish there was a way to document with DAC how a driver takes care of their assigned equipment. There are good drivers, but there are also some really bad ones. There are drivers who will abuse their equipment, bring pets in the truck (without permission), sell fuel or other property of the carrier. I would like to see a way to let potential employers know their history. Unfortunately, you can't do that due to the potential risk for litigation.

Other than holding a driver more responsible for their own behavior, I am not sure that CSA will have much impact on drivers. The good drivers stand to benefit, the bad drivers will have to either change their behavior or find a new career.

think of it this way; the only recourse in this industry that a driver ever had (has) is when a bottom feeder is abusing them, they could; walk" and try to find a company to treat them better. As long as their MVR/Dot was in order (clean) they could "move on" to try to improve their position in the industry. (thus" the turn over rate that is" this industry) Now" the money part; Carrier's pay a yearly fee to thease parasites! to 1. get unlimited checks on drivers, for that fixed" fee. 2.(this should be of interest) they get a deduction off that amount; "every time they slander a driver. There are NO" good things said about a driver!...ever!!! the game is fixed" no matter; how good a driver you are! how clean your DMV-DOT etc...yes you can rebutt it-tell your side-and every so often" get it removed. Thease Parasites (compaines that use it-and the host Parasites that report it) should not" exsist! (ie) they are above the law;local-state-federal, insofar as: Carriers use them "knowing what they are to their" advantage aginst you" the driver; 1.for leaving them & 2. to screw you over/pay you back! & 3. to keep you from driving for their compition. No wher eles" in our Country is this allowed! but as American Truck Drivers; this is how they keep control" to their advantage. Money-Power-Control!!!is what it's all" about in America. My hope is that CSA2010 (because it's free" to the carriers) will be the end"of thease scumbags! what's right" vs Money & control...hmmmm wonder"wonder"

I hope CSA2010 puts DAC out of business. They only report what their customers report to them. It is crime what DAC does to drivers' lives. Maybe one more class-action lawsuit will put the scumbags out of business. DAC does not care about the lives they destroy. All they care about is their customers. DAC has never contacted me about anything that was reported about me. The sad thing is, you have to fight to have anything corrected or removed. Let's stick together and put theese "PARASITES" out of business once and for all.

I had a company put wrong information on my DAC report , guess what , they got sued for defamation of character , I sued the company suppling the info not DAC I got paid for money I would have made if that misinformation wasn't there , and then Dac got a court order to change it or be charged and fined , sometimes the scum sucking lawyers work in your favor .

IMO they should be outlawed as its blackballing and thats illegal . if your driving record which is public info isn't good enough and your too lazy to call and request info from past employers you shouldn't be in business . its like applications with the comment section on the back for a former employer to fill out , I cross them out and write in do not fill in . if the employer doesn't like that well I am not going to work for you as some of my previous employers had a grudge I left because I was offered a better paying job with benefits than them and where out to get me for leaving .

when I had my own company , I just did a license check and had my insurance co do a yes or no check . and called up a few of the employers for reference and was only allowed to ask: if they worked there , when , rate of pay , and any alcohol or drug violations, accidents ,and dismissed or quit ? and nothing else , I even hung up on a guy when he started to give me a speel about the prospect ( which the prospect told me he would . ) I even told one that what they where saying can be used against them in court as liable/slander as they don't know who I am ... but I have had some that said they wish they never left ( some of those I was suspicous of ) and would rehire them .
