I found a transport job, hauling water in the oilfield. over all is good, pay isn't bad, home nightly. dispatch on weekends, and drive during the week. they hired me right out of school, bless their hearts for taking a chance on me.
it seems when I try to talk to drivers in other fields (otr, dedicated type), I am not considered a real truck driver? does anyone know of boards or chat or something for oilfield transport drivers? vacuum truck and pressure truck type stuff? just looking for somewhere for support and feed back on questions.
I'm very new to the trucking career, and the oilfield both. the guys I work with are great (most of them). just looking for where I might fit in.
thx
am I really a truck driver?

You're a truck driver, change your status from student to reflect it!

I wouldn't listen to em
You have your CDL. You drive a truck. I think the 'tude they are giving you is because you got a kickbutt, home nightly gig-fresh out of school.
I say, great job to you!NDBADLANDS, msfern29, SheepDog and 3 others Thank this. -
You drive a truck don't you?
BINGO! Truck driver.
Are you having better luck with that 13 speed?uptownkid Thanks this. -

I'm still having trouble with breaking and using the breaks. have so much conflicting info, and the advice I've got doesnt work at all. so I dunno. I"m down to now; just avoid as much traffic as possible, and trying to not use the breaks at all unless absolutely necessary. which is difficult and ridiculous, I"m a road hazard like this. -
I see that you got your CDL and job back in December. You are and have been a real truck driver. It only takes a minute to change your status as the other driver suggested. Click on User CP in the upper left corner, then under Your Profile click on Edit Profile and in the first box where your current status shows Student scroll down to 0-1. Then maybe instead of looking for another board, why not first try starting a thread aimed at any current or ex-oil field workers? Good luck.
msfern29 Thanks this. -
and I dont mean about status, I mean physically talking or messaging to others, they have no clue what my status on this site is. -
You're a trucker....if your job requires driving a rig that requires a license, that's about it. What kind of trucker is the question that follows..

I'll tell you, driver , that I don't know anything about oilfield operations, but I'd like to! Cheers and safe trip.
