I've been on here for over a week trying to figure out exactly who will be the first company I'll go OTR with. I have it narrowed down thanks to all the good advice I've gotten on this forum. But yesterday this company DeBoer transportation inc called me. And they are offering decent wages 28 cpm. And they seemed straight forward. Now since May Trucking Co. is at the bottom of my list and Sherman Brothers wants me a newbie to haul glass. And everyone advised against it. So I'm seeking other options. And DeBoer transportation is at the top of my list. I was wondering if anyone heard anything good or bad about DeBoers transportation inc?

28¢ is really less than minimum wage for trucking, but as a student, hopefully it'll get better soon enough. i have never heard a bad word about DeBoers, but i forgot frankly that they were still in business as i hardly ever see them in my area, even when i used to run out to PA, i didn't ever get to see them.

okay i work for deboer and i will tell you if you have no solo experience you need to be real comfortable with your self because they are basically a solo company not to many teams. and you also have the fear every day that they may or could shut their doors. right now i'm putting in applications just in case this happens i have my foot in the door some where else so i'm not going to be with out a job. i do like them to a point but sometimes your dispatcher will tell you to go and get a load even thought you dont have hours avaliable to you to do this they dont care so you have to be able to work your log books to get this done. and get use to texas i have been stuck there 3 weekends in a row out of the 3 months that i have been working for them. since you are looking for your first company i would really suggest looking for a company that has teams until you get better use to driving over the road i did that at first and i learned a lot more than what i did in truck driving school and i would recommend that to any one team first then solo especially in NYC or in LA i hate them two places. I work for deBoer out of Texas and have had a wonderful experience so far. Been with them almost 2 years and get plenty of miles, home when I ask and have a couple of awesome dispatchers. My only disappointment is how they maintain their equipment. Bailing wire and bubble gum approach to repair is not my idea of keeping us safe on the road. And preventive maintenance??? Well, they never heard of that concept. It generally takes a lot of fussing, fuming and a couple threats along the way to get them to fix what needs to be fixed. Other than that, I'd recommend them as a great company to work for!!

I understand they run about 450 units. I wonder how they work it , they have job listing in Philly area pa. Said they will hire student grads. They say average 2500 - 3200 miles a week? Is that accurate miles? I have cdl A still, but been too long since I drove refresher course coming soon. I figure I would look into a smaller company.

Be careful if you decide to drive for deBoer. I drove their Texas Regional for one month and quit. I am retired from the US Air Force and since my son is an owner-operator for Landstar I decided to see what his life is about so I obtained my CDL and went OTR with another company before I decided I wanted to be home on weekends. This company said that would be no problem so I tried them out. What a mistake...with the regional all their loads delivered in the morning, a few hours later you were off loaded and driving for a few more hours to pick up your next load and then you had to drive for a few hours to get it there on time. I never took a 6, 8 or 10 hour break because it was never possible. I drove 806 miles one day alone in a 65 mph truck. Talk about illegal...I'm not going to prison for nobody so I quit since it was falling on deaf ears. I never had a legal log book the whole time except for two days but it sure looked nice and legal. LOL!! I talked to them and was told this is how the Texas Regional operated. If this wasn't bad enough I only made it home for 35 hours one weekend and the others I was on the road and stuck at a terminal in Dallas or Texarkana. They said they take pride in getting their regional drivers home for the weekend...what a joke!!! A word of caution on their equipment....they don't maintain it in what I would consider top operating condition. They didn't buy any new trucks this year so that should say something and from what I hear they probably won't be around much longer so that is probably why they aren't putting much money into vehicle maintenance. Talking about the pay...this company is at the bottom of the pay scale...27.5 cpm to start. They haven't changed this figure in years. Anybody with a computer and internet can verify this with no problem. If you don't mind being out for 3 weeks Crete starts at 41 cpm and has profit sharing and 401K.

I have heard they hire based om BMI Index (body mass index),...So,..If they think you are to fat they wont hire you,....Has something to do with the off chance a driver might have sleep apnea.....

deboer called us today, me 1.5 years husband at nearly 10 offered: 35 cpm split which was LESS then werner was paying us o.0
