In my preparations to leave for driving school, I ran across this item. It is an LED in the brim of a baseball type cap w also 2 more under the brim facing down at a slight angle. The on/off switch is also on the underside...everything is neatly concealed and I was floored by the power of the lights. I thought it would be handy in simple instances where you needed a light for a brief moment..(map reading etc) but I honestly think this hat will be invaluable.

Of course I will still bring a hand held light but for $16.95 I think it will really come in handy.

It is called "Panther Vision" and I bought the model with 3 lights..really powerful lights/hardly noticeable, very well concealed..

When hubby was hauling cattle, he used the ones that clip to the brim of the hat. He loved them! Also he had a flash function if you flipped the switch the other way and it would scare the cattle the other direction from him. :biggrin_25523:

yeah, I have used headlamps for years. I was just impressed by the overall quality of this hat and everything is all in one. I wear a hat a lot and it's built in, and a touch of the brim away..

I have used the ones that clip on for about 10 years but started seeing them built in to the hats about 5 years ago and have used those since discovering them. I use them for fishing, have 2 of these hats. But I never thought of using it in a truck. I will be sure to try it out. They are nice and priced just a couple dollars over the typical price of a regular hat and have much better battery life than the clip on models. Good lookin' out for ideas man.

I used to drop and hook trialers out in no-where when I was driving triples and that would have came in very handy. But I would still carry a small maglite on your belt so you can do a proper inspection of the truck even during the day.

If you are using AA or AAA battery powered devices in the truck I'd strongly suggest you consider this recharger. It comes with 120v cord and a 12v cord. My first one lasted over 10 years of daily hard use.

You get a 4-pack of AA with the item above but Amazon.com has a brand of recharge batteries out recently that are superior to almost any other brand I've tested. You can get them 4-pack of AA or AAA for about $9
Amazon calls them AmazonBasics AA or AAA. Very good, high capacity rechargeables

    You guys haven't seen these?

They carry them in the sporting goods section of every Walmart I have been in for about $14. Lowes and Home Depot has them for around $16. It's a baseball cap with LED's built in, no need for maglights. Keep your hands free, light goes where ever you might point your head. Super cool, but not a spotlight like Mags. Very nice having hands free though like any headlamp. They run on those little cr232 batteries, the one's that look like a nickel.

Agreed, I have a small flashlight that is good quality and I found the holster before I left. It is a " Coast / LED LENSOR". I have had it for years and is a verynice little light.

The led light hats are cheaply made and unreliable in my experience. The wiring in the brim just doesn't hold up and the lights, while very bright, often quit working long before their 100,000hr rating. I'm an avid outdoorsman and utilize headlights yearround. I recommend investing in the Rayovac 3n1 headlamp found at any hardware store.

It comes with a regular medium size incandescent lamp in the center, and just above are three LED lamps. Two very bright white lights that are plenty bright for most tasks, and a dimmer red lamp used for tasks like map reading. There is a selector switch that allows you to switch between the various lights. It runs on 3AAA batteries. If you utilize the LED lamps you can get several months out of a set. I've had my current model about 4yrs and it still works like new.
