So I went to Stevens Transport a few weeks back with my application and once I get there they tell me that they need my tax returns for the past three years. OK, no problem but why didn't the genius tell me that BEFORE I drove to their school from Plano, Texas?? Just stupid and rude. No excuse for that.
Then they tell me I have to have made at least 10,000 dollars every year for the past three years. Not possible for me since I was teaching English in Mexico City. So, there goes Stevens Transport with their incredibly professional people working there who don't even tell you everything that you need to bring before coming. Unreal.
Next I go to driver solutions so I can get on with PAM Transport. Turn in my taxes for the past three years and this time make sure that there is no certain income amount required. They tell me no, they just need to see that I was working and filing taxes. No problem. The recruiter delivers that to PAM Transport and tells me to call him this morning to see what they said. I called the recruiter from driversolutions and he says that PAM said no for now.
Sorry guys but I'm starting to think whoever is running some of these companies are pretty uneducated with low IQ's. Let's see...I have a clean, 27 year driving record, proof that I have been working for the past three years, I take a shower everyday unlike a lot of the drivers I have been seeing at some schools, and still I can't get a break.
Any suggestions on a company or school out there with any type of brains in their heads that would train me? You know, with my PERFECT 27 year driving history, no drugs, no health problems. Any companies any of you all would recommend?
Thanks.
Can't get a break! Why?!!

My brother-in-law who drives a rig can't figure out why I am having problems getting on somewhere. I will keep looking and applying to the companies and the schools they use to train for the CDL. This is getting frustrating. Can't even get started.
-
have you tried more than Stevens and PAM?
-
I am now. One company at a time though. I don't want to be applying to two at one time for example and have both say OK. That doesn't seem to be a problem for me though. It's getting frustrated now but I will keep trying. I guess I'll go through as many companies as I can find and if that doesn't work move on to something else and always wonder why I wasn't even given a chance, espeically with a ******* perfect 27 year driving record.

Plano TX to Mesquite TX isn't exactly a long distance. Many people commute further than that every day.
Is there something else that could be holding you up that you're not aware? Past due child support? Outstanding warrant for a parking ticket?
I know of one driver that had a problem getting on with Stevens because a criminal search turned up his name and a warrant for bank robbery in Chicago. It wasn't him, but someone with the same first and last name and the same middle initial.
After getting it straightened out, all was well and he still drives for them. -
There's nothing on my criminal record, nothing on my driving record. Too many people applying perhaps?? This could have been the problem with PAM I guess. Stevens was the fact that I did not meet their income requirment for the past three years. I can only guess with PAM since they didn't say why.
Complete mystery unless these companies are only looking for people who don't take showers everyday. I'll keep applying. -
Could it be any of the following?
VERY bad credit
Student loans (none are in default)
The fact that I just returned to the U.S. about a month ago after having lived and worked in Mexico City for the past three and a half years? But my U.S. license is good until 2014.
Complete mystery unless too many people are applying to trucking these days due to the economy. -
Swift has 4 terminals in Texas;have you tried them? My son's been with them since july 25 ,so far he's doing well. He's been solo on a regional dedicated account for a month now, gets home one day per week for his 34 hr reset, plenty of miles at 44cpm empty or loaded.

you should apply to multiple companies, see who throws you an offer and who doesn't and pick the cream of the crop. That's like only applying to one college, what happens if you don't get in? Expand your options, you're not obligated to work with anyone just like they aren't obligated to hire you.

Thanks for the information whosedog. I will look into them as well. PAM is the only company that basically said no without giving a reason. Stevens I know why. I'll try others as well.
