Yeah I know this is my decision. It just helps me to write (type) all this stuff down. Somehow it arranges things in my brain. I did the same thing when I was learning the pre-trip. Typed it up how I would say it... lolsammycat and slim shady Thank this. -
If It was me in your shoes, "BUT I'm not" I'd go Flatbed too.Roehl has a lot of good Reviews, Maverick also has good reviewsPerpetual Thanks this. -
Well the Schneider DBL guy tried to call once earlier today but I missed the call. Tried him back twice but just got voicemail. The recruiter said keep trying. She is taking the day off tomorrow so.... hmmmm.
Roehl should now have everything they need, just need to get the local medical exam scheduled.... Look like things will be on hold at least until tomorrow.
That's okay. Sleeping on it won't hurt a thing
Be safe all. -
Hey Perpetual
Glad you got your own thead and I have enjoyed it already!! I do the same thing as you. Sometimes by writing things down and SEEING the words, it can make a thought or decision make more sense!
I agree with Chompi (he has good good advice and some pretty horses!!!) don't wait long and no matter where you go-it's an adventure and it sounds like you LOVE adventure!!!!!!!Perpetual Thanks this. -
Yes I certainly have had a fair share of adventure and it ain't over yet
Oh the stories I could tell...sammycat Thanks this. -
Even though you're going FB, you'll still need to know how to back. When you park at a TS, most of the time you'll be backing into a spot. And besides, what if down the road you decide to give up flat beds for dry van? Don't short change yourself. Get the skill sets down rock solid.
I've got to commend you, though, for having the desire to go FB. It is demanding work and it will keep you in shape. The winters will be your real test.
I'm looking forward to reading more about your up and coming adventure.Perpetual Thanks this. -
Flatbed - Malone comes to mind...

Don't forget to add tarp pay to the list of +'es. I've seen posts where drivers have asked for and received a few hundred just for tarp pay. YMMV.Perpetual Thanks this. -
Went out for a nice brisk walk earlier and got to thinking...
I have been out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on a sailboat during an all night storm that packed 60 knot wind gusts and 30 foot seas... Trying to steer up and down waves while being held inside the ####pit with a harness and tether... Wild times...
So I figure securing a load and putting tarps on a flatbed in the bad weather can't be all that bad. Might be cold or snowy or rainy, but at least it ain't like the deck is pitching and rolling all over the place...
So we got that going for us.
Which is nice.
