    need some help/advice

Recently started training with Werner. In my first week of training a lady tried to squeeze by on my blindside as I was making a right hand turn. The front tire on the tandem kissed her fender and left a red streak on the wall of my tire. The police officer DID NOT write me a ticket. Safety wants to have a meeting. My trainer says they will add 30 more hours to my training time. But this accident was not my fault. How should I handle this? When I go in to talk to safety? Any help is greatly appreciated!

heres what you do.You accept any things they throw at you.You explain that you welcome the extra training, because the event scared the hell out of you also. You'll learn as time goes on,tht its always your fault. You see, your suppose to be paying attention to the idiots around you at all times. So eat the crow, tell them you screwed up,and you would like to have another chance.Your a newbie, so they might take that into account, but now you will have to definately watch your caboose.(literally)Stay humble, and keep an open mind.Good luck.

You have to admit that this wreck was your fault. IF you left enough room for another vehicle to squeeze up your inside it's your fault plain and simple. Accept the additional training>30 hours is nothing...three days!

Now, to reality! Many times you have to perform maneuvers that are outside the rule/play book of the carrier. You have to ensure that it can be done safely and that you don't get busted!

They'll call that a preventable 100 times out of 100, sorry, but you'll probably never do that again. To make you feel better, a guy I work with was making a right in downtown Chicago, a girl was walking down the sidewalk texting, and walked into his trailer. Ran over and broke both of her legs. Even though there was 20 plus witnesses, who's fault do you think it was? Kind of the same principle, consider your incident a learning experience.

    Preventable.

To make you feel much better, I bumped a police car with my ICC bumper. Took that mirror off, left a pretty blue streak on his fender.

cop: Scared the ###### out of me!

don't know if I can accept that it was my fault. Isn't that what the warning sign on the back of our trailors are for? Starting to understand that with CDL anything that happens its always the truckers fault. The lady was not on my blindside while I was waiting to make the turn. I had to swing out wider to make the strange angle.. she must have squeezed up then. We were pulled over a couple miles down the road being told we were involved in a accident. My trainer didn't know it happened and neither did I.

Thanks for the replys they are greatly appreciated.

Did your trainer advise you to always watch your mirrors while making a turn?If not you need a new trainer.

So I'm a bad trainer? D; I just let them drive, they didn't learn it in CDL class, why should it be me that has to tell them? Their fault for screwing around that day.

Other than that, it was preventable, on her part. That sticker is there for a reason, lady.
