Fellow Felons,
My story is a lot different than most, but who's story not. I won't go into detail about my case, but just know that I thought I was pledging to a misdemeanor and just found out it was a felony. Now, before I decided that I was going to become a truck driver I held 2-3 jobs who all did background checks and I even had a pre hire to Con-Way who also did a background check and my charge always came back a misdemeanor. It was when I was attending CRST orientation that I found out that it was a Felony (how embarrassing) and the cats tried to make me pay my way home.
After I got home I contacted my old probation officer to get more info on my case and yes it was a felony. I was down and out and thought I would never drive because I had an Obstructing Justice/Resisting Arrest on my background, but after researching I felt discourage by posts on other forums and these forums as well I thought it would not happen I mean it was people saying go flip burgers or some negative bull, but I thought to myself and talked to a few I know and they told me to keep looking and keep trying and after I thought about it I told myself I wanted to drive and yes I made it happen.
To my fellow excons if you want to drive you can drive don't let no one tell you, you can't get hired with a felony. Just do your research, make calls and talk to drivers. In the last 5 days I have spent about 70-80 hours between researching, making calls and filling out apps and today I got 2 approvals today with the Felony and yes 1 of them was SWIFT, but with 0 months experience and a Felony I can't be to choosy, but I did IT I landed a job and I'm not flipping burgers!!!
Put your work in and Good Luck!!
Ohh BTW I'm not going to Carolina Cargo, but I would if I had to.
Got Felonies?? Don't let them tell you u can't drive...

Yeah, I could not believe all the negative stuff I was reading, but after my research I started to see that all them guys was just talking out their arse because from what I was reading and being told by actual representatives of each company it CAN BE DONE once I realized that all that negative crap made no sense and was not even slightly true!!

Your persistence in getting this done, is an indicator you'll make for a good trucker.
You'll need this kind of attitude out on the road.CWiLL23, Sam Hell, lonelyswmtrucker and 1 other person Thank this. -

Yeah I will be a safe and legal driver as I did my homework before I even signed up to school. I did a year worth of research of the life of a trucker the only thing I failed to do is research the compines to start with lol and I chose CRST first nothing bad to say about them, but let's just say I'm glad I had this felony.
j_mac84trucker Thanks this. -
Just remember to come back and update this thread........

Will do just like I was updating my CRST thread, but as far as I know I should be good, but then again I was always told don't count ya chickens before ya eggs hatch and until I have an actual company ID & keys to a truck I know I really can't say I'm hired but I'm confident as I filled out all my paperwork stating my charge & what happened and it got approved.
jerryy123 Thanks this. -
