    Dude, you bombed.

In my end of the business, they would have sent you home, period. No second chances. If you can't make it on time to orientation, they don't want you.

Oreintation is where you sort through a weeks worth of garbage (and the company does too). Take in a lot, figure what you need, get rid of what you don't and be ready to work.

You were supposed to stay at the hotel. A hustler would have used the hotel stay to give himself an edge. You meet the other recruits, some experienced drivers, some rookies, and create a network...a support systems of sorts to get you through this bad time. Make some allies, glean some tips from the experienced drivers, be fully rested and relaxed the night before the company dos their version of an anal probe on you. I myself would always take the new guys out to dinner the day before to give them pointers (and I know money is tight for the new guys). I will also warn them to keep their thoughts about the office eye candy to themselves. While at dinner, I would stress to the new drivers the importance it is to be on time all the time. The motel clerk is normally the one that tells drivers what time the shuttle van will be there to pick them up, and they have an info package at the front desk for you.

Next time, if there is a next time, check into the freakin motel like you were supposed to.

forgot to mention for any other rookies going to orientation. It's always early in the morning. Always! Common sense should tell you that you should be up and ready to go before the office types...usually, they want you up and about at , depending on your field, 5-6 am. Go to the lobby, get checked in (there's normally a company rep sitting in the lobby waiting for you with the continental breakfast), and get started.

Just FYI, this isn't about trucking, this is about life. If someone else doesn't give you the info you need, and you fail to ask for it, guess who's shoulders it falls on. Take this as a lesson, and next time keep them on the phone for an hour if you have to if you still have questions unanswered. Your own initiative is what is going to make or break you in life. On a different note, get that GED as soon as you can - you'll be doing yourself a big favor.

He's still waiting for someone to tell him where to go and what time to be there to get his GED! Haha. Sorry kid but Reroll is right. You have to take the initiative!

Do companies ever ask to see a GED or High School Diploma? If they don't ask, then you do have one. Kinda' like "don't ask, don't tell."

I appreciate the concern man. I've been having a hard time getting used to barely being answered when asking questions. I called my recruiter back and asked her what specific time I had to be there and if I had to stay the night at the hotel and she said, "Sweetie, goodbye", like I was using her 'valuable' time or something.

This whole "40 ton missile" and "40 ton bomb" thing cracks me up. Unless you have military explosives ready to detonate on impact, it may be a slight exaggeration. It's not a bomb, it's a vehicle, lol.

I agree with you about everything since I obviously don't know much about the work force. Just for you information my recruiter keeps hanging up on me after 5-10 seconds. I'm going to call Idea Brophy and ask her since my recruiter is being a butt.
