Started driving out of the military, put in a little time behind CRST and then Werner (with a little offshoot later on with a local company) until I decided to give it up in hopes of scoring that perfect corporate job. Well, here I am again, about to graduate my refresher course, and I'm pretty much faced with an issue..
I'm going to come out and say it, I put myself in this predicament for the most part, but as it stands, my job history is less than stellar (Year and a half last job, then almost a whole year of unemployment due to a legal battle) so my prospects in companies are nill. I was looking for flatbed, but was told none of them would touch me with my job history so..um..murky. So am I limited to PTL, Schnieder, or Swift dryvans?
(I have read the other forums and the company forums, but it seems like a constant see-saw)
Another one of those "Woe is me" threads..

Well, it certainly is not going to help you any. But don't listen to what other drivers tell you a company will and won't go for. Make contact with the companies you want to work for. All of them. As many of them as possible on a face to face basis. You just might be surprised at who will put you to work.
And if your "legal battle" was actually "jail time," don't be too terribly concerned about that either. Lots of drivers have been inside for a while.HotH2o, passingthru69 and gpsman Thank this. -
Swift does Dryvan and Flatbed.
Not sayng they're the best choice.
Just letting you know they do flat also.Efox82 Thanks this. -
Yeah, I agree with Big Don... just call the companies, all they can say is no.. I know werner has hired back drivers who left, I have run I to quite a few drivers who quit werner and came back for one reason or the other... just keep talking to companies and you will get on somewhere...
Good luck to you...Efox82 Thanks this. -

I've already tried a few, all the same answer, but I'll keep trying. And in regard to the legal battle, I truly meant one, lol, SQUEAKY CLEAN record here.
And I totally didn't realize Swiffer had a skateboard section...may just look into that.Big Don Thanks this. -
And not to recap, but has Werner gotten any better since 2006? Another thread of back and forth seesawing, the only thing I remember that I liked was the dedicated with OfficeMax.

Ask Schneider about Schneider Bulk; that's where the money is.
PTL is OK and has APU's.
Big-M Transportation
Western Express has refresher and flatbed.
Tidewater Transit in Decatur.
Howard Transportation - flatbed
South East Carriers in Lawrenceburg, TN would be the best choice.Last edited: Apr 16, 2014

Does it have to big a big company? U could find smaller companies probably loose logs etc that run you hard pay you decent and mostly 1099 not all small companies but a lot.

Youll find one someplace. With a huge hole in drivers out there, there is bound to be one company who will hire you.
